Super fun crafting catch-up!

I have been a busy lady but forgetting about sharing my progress!

Here is what I have been working on:

I am working on making a MTG corset from cards. This is the pattern I am working on so that I can sew the cards on in planned out layers to create a really cool artistic design to it.

Here is my new sewing room setup which I am very excited about.

I have been working on a fun maxi dress for when I play D&D and maybe even Ren Fest. The top is Leather, made from a leather bra that I made adjustments to along with some other fun trims. I love the red leather that I added to the under-bust and across the chest. The bottom of the dress is from some left over burgundy and magenta formal dress fabric and has a really cool netted fabric over it.
Well that about wraps up what I have been upto minus some costume designing which I will add a post about later.

Tali Uni-tard Drafting

So today I spent all day drafting the uni-tard for my Tali cosplay. It actually went way better then I had expected and I got all the fabric drafted and cut!

I was originally going to make this a practice run but I am gonna try to see if it can just end up being for my finished product since everything seems to fit the dress form so well, fingers crossed it will fit me perfect.

I can hardly wait to paint the hexagons on the fabric and get it all sewn together!

I also found this amazing face-shield thing which will be absolutely perfect to construct my helmet out of! SO SUPER AWESOME!!
The helmet is from Safety Suplies Zone

Preparing to make my Tali Unitard

For CONvergence 2014 I will be making a Tali'zorah cosplay.

I just recently started playing Mass Effect and Tali is such a cool and intriguing character and her outfit is so cool! Here I will be logging my creative journey to completing my Tali'zorah costume. Yesterday I purchased some black and grey knit fabric to use for my Tali costume. I made sure the black fabric was light and stretchy but also that it wasn't see through, don't need to show more then intended.

I started to mark off the pattern lines for my uni-tard last night with ribbon and pins. I discovered that it is hard to pin on open gaps and where the dials are to I added some red flannel in so that I can pin directly on it. I also decided that since I have to do legs too it would be best to have one on the dress form so with an old wrapping paper roll some fiber-fill and red felt I pinned on a leg, problem solved!.

I also used some felt to begin work on patterning out the leather vest piece.

This morning I used paint and made a stencil pattern for the elongated hexagon parts of the uni-tard.
